Recovery Is More Than Physical

Supporting the mental and emotional side of injury, rehabilitation, and return-to-activity.

Recovering from an injury, preparing for or recovering from surgery, or adjusting to ongoing physical limitations involves more than physical healing. Many individuals experience fear of reinjury, frustration, stress, loss of confidence, or uncertainty as they prepare to return to sport, work, or the activities that matter most.

Mind & Performance Wellness Counseling complements physical therapy, medical care, and rehabilitation by helping individuals navigate the emotional side of recovery while building confidence, strengthening resilience, and developing practical strategies to move forward.

Whether you're preparing for surgery, recovering from an injury or surgery, participating in physical therapy, adapting to physical limitations, or returning to sport, work, or everyday activities, the emotional challenges of recovery can impact motivation confidence, and overall well-being

Mind & Performance Wellness Counseling helps individuals navigate the emotional challenges of recovery while developing practical strategies to build confidence, strengthen resilience, and support long well-being.

Dr. Pip's passion for Mind & Performance Wellness Counseling began through her own recovery after tearing her ACL and meniscus while playing basketball. While receiving exceptional orthopedic care and physical rehabilitation, she discovered that healing involves more than restoring physical function. Those experiences ultimately inspired her to pursue advanced training in sport and performance psychology and clinical mental health counseling, with a passion for bridging the gap between physical rehabilitation and emotional recovery.

Before beginning her own rehabilitation journey, Dr. Pip worked as a rehabilitation technician, supporting physical therapists and rehabilitation teams. Following her own ACL and meniscus injury, she experienced rehabilitation firsthand as a patient, reinforcing her belief that recovery is about more than physical healing. Those experiences continue to shape her vision of working collaboratively with physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, athletic trainers, and other healthcare professionals to support the whole person, not just the injury.

Dr. Pip believes the best recovery addresses the whole person, not just the injury, because healing is about more than the body. It's about helping people regain confidence, build resilience, and reconnect with the parts of life that matter most. Today, her goal is to complement physical rehabilitation by helping individuals navigate the emotional side of recovery, rebuild confidence after setbacks, and return to the activities that matter most.
